The best metals for everyday jewelry
Solid gold (14K or 18K): The most durable option. Won't tarnish, won't fade. Expensive.
18K gold plated stainless steel: The best accessible option. Waterproof, tarnish-free, hypoallergenic. Looks identical to solid gold at a fraction of the price.
Solid sterling silver: Beautiful but tarnishes quickly. Requires regular maintenance. Not ideal for everyday wear without care.
Gold plated brass: Fades within months. Avoid for everyday pieces.
Platinum: Extremely durable and tarnish-free. Very expensive. More common in fine jewelry.
